ENSEMBLE continues on Lake Iseo
The midterm event of ENSEMBLE, entitled “Towards a more sustainable Europe“, was held in Iseo (Italy) from October 14th to October 16th, 2024. On this occasion, partners’ delegations from Imatra (Finland), Manzanares El Real (Spain), St. Gilgen (Austria), and Bohinj (Slovenia) discussed how the activities’ implementation is going so far, and what could be done to improve the actions that are carried out within the project in order to reach concrete goals of local sustainable development and citizens’ empowerment.
Besides these internal meetings, on Tuesday, October 15th, in the auditorium of Iseo’s high school (Istituto Antonietti), students and European partners had the opportunity to participate in a conference on sustainable tourism, in particular on the measures adopted for the management of visitors’ flows in sensitive areas and examples of alternative forms of mobility and land management. During the Q&A session, it was underlined that the members of the nEUlakes network share the same problems and issues on different scales; international cooperation can thus foster mutual learning to tackle these common challenges in a better way.
Among the speakers there were Mr. Daniele Tonelli, Destination Management of Garda Trentino (Italy), Ms. Magdalena Fuk, President of the Foundation for the Protection of the Great Masurian Lakes (Poland), and Ms. Bernarda Marasović, director of the Tourist Board of Skradin (Croatia).
