Lake Maggiore

Ascona is a municipality with 5,800 inhabitants, which is located on the shore of Lake Maggiore in the Swiss district of Locarno (Canton Ticino). Ascona is famous for its mild climate and its Old Town. The lake promenade is dotted with street cafés and the visitors can enjoy the Mediterranean atmosphere of the picturesque marina. The town is a popular tourist destination and holds a yearly jazz festival, the “Ascona Jazz Festival”.
